Sabonetes

Finalmente tomei coragem a tentei fazer sabonete em casa, uma idéia que vinha protelando já faz um tempinho.

Optei por usar uma base pronta de Glicerina


Finally I took courage and tried to make soap at home, an idea that had been delaying for some time.

I opted to use a Glycerin base.

Depois da base cortada em pedaços pequenos é hora de derretar no micro ondas. 30 segundos e depois vai indo de 10 em 10 até derreter completamente

After the base cut into small pieces it is time to melt in the microwave . 30 seconds  and then goes from 10 to 10 until it melts completely.

Depois da base derretida é só colocar o óleo essêncial de sua preferência, aqui eu usei o de Laranja. Também é hora de colocar o corante, se quiser. Você pode usar o corante  próprio para sabonete ou o corante alimentício que também serve. 

After the base is melted just put the essential oil of your choice, here I used Sweet Orange, It´s also time to put the dye if you want. You can use the proper dye for soap but food coloring also works.

Depois de tudo misturado, colocar nas forminhas e borrifar um pouquinho de álcool para tirar as bolinhas de ar que ficam por cima.

After everything is mixed put it in the molds and spray a little bit of alcohol to remove the bubbles that are on top of the soap.

A parte mais difícil pra mim foi esperar que o sabonete ficasse pronto... (pessoa ansiosa!)

The hardest part for me was waiting for the soap to be ready...( What a anxious person!)

Mas valeu bastante a pena e nem demorou tanto assim. Esse aqui levou 4 horas para endurecer  mas muito gente recomenda que se deixe mais tempo pra que fique bem firme. Fazer de noite e desenformar pela manhã por exemplo. 

But it was worth it and it didn't take that long. This one took 4 hours to harden but a lot of people recommend that you leave it resting longer so it gets firmer. Do it at night and unmold it in the morning, for example.

O primeiro foi de laranja e o vermelho é de Ylang Ylang. 

Gostei bastante do resultado. É claro que tenho muito que experimentar e a internet tá cheia de idéias que estou louca para tentar. Prometo que posto aqui as futuras tentativas.

The first one was Sweet Orange and the red one Ylang Ylang.

I really liked the result. Of course I have a lot to experiment and the internet if full of ideas that I'm crazy to try. I promise to post future attempts here.

Father's Day Card

Diferente do Brasil onde o dia dos pais é comemorado no segundo domingo de agosto, aqui comemoramos no Domingo passado, ou seja, terceiro domingo de junho. (Quer saber porque essa diferença nos dias? Clica aqui).

       

O cartão saiu no dia certo, mas o post atrasou um pouquinho...

Different from Brazil where Father's Day is celebrated on the second Sunday of August, here we celebrate last Sunday, the third Sunday of June.(The link above explains why the different days but it is in Portuguese...)
